Customer Dispute Arbitration Agency – Badan Penyelesaian Sengketa Konsumen (BPSK)

Ever heard of Customer Dispute Arbitration Agency – Badan Penyelesaian Sengketa Konsumen (BPSK)? Never? So did I :-) Not until I read about it in a recent article in Kompas (Tuesday, 23 June 2009). The agency sits under Customer Protection Directorate, Ministry of Trade, and was created based on Customer Protection Act, number 8 of the year 1999. Yup, 10 years, and not many knows about it, including me :-)

So, if you, as a customer, need to complain, maybe you can try to use this agency first before sending your Reader’s Letter (Surat Pembaca). From the website of Customer Protection Directorate, you can find the list of BPSK office in several cities, but unfortunately, they have no website or email address. Maybe someone want to offer them to create a customer complain portal? :-)
